Tian Tan Buddha :
Big buddha ( also known as) is one of the largest buddha statues in China, it is 112 ft tall, breathtaking and also an absolutely bliss to stare at. Wondering why Tian tan? Because this statue sits on a base similar to that of Tian tan, the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
Being the second largest sitting buddha in the world with unbelievable panoramic views, this is a must visit place in Hong Kong. Located in Lantau Island away from the chaotic city, this place symbolises Peace and happiness.
Ngong Ping 360:
There are many ways to get to Ngong Ping, but I would recommend you to take the cable car ride from Tung Chung. I booked my ticket through Klook instantly.
Also remember to take the Crystal cabin at least one way because you would definitely regret on missing an amazing bird’s eye view.
On reaching Ngong ping, you will enter into a tiny yet very cute village with so many souvenir shops and restaurants all around . It may seem bit crowded but if you are lucky like I was, you would be surrounded by very few people. Walk a little further, and there you go, the site of the world largest buddha statue in front of your eyes.
Getting to the Statue :
You need to climb 268 steps to reach the top and trust me it’s all worth it. The panoramic views and the magnificent buddha statue will definitely awe you.
Take your time and go around the place, you don’t need an entry ticket to visit the Buddha but if you want to get inside you must get a ticket separately. From the top, check out the views and it’s so freaking beautiful.
Po Lin Monastery :
Make sure you are visiting Po Lin monastery which is right opposite to Big buddha. I had no idea about this place when I was there and randomly visited it.
This monastery is home for lot of monks and also for “Ten thousand Buddhas”. As the name specify it consists of a room full of buddhas and it is absolute beauty.
Can you see the background of the pic, each dot has a buddha statue embedded in it. It was such an calm and peaceful experience visiting Ngong ping and it will remain as one of the peaceful buddha statues I have seen so far.
Don’t miss this on your list while visiting hong kong. I’m sure you will love it too. Love much and travel much more. Thanks for reading 🙂
